1. Tell us about yourself and how did you develop an interest in fashion?
I have been a Fashion Lover since I was a little kid. It started with designing and sewing clothes for my doll at the age of 6. I even took Fashion Design in my High School as an elective and learned a lot. I wanted to go to fashion school for my higher education but couldn’t due to various personal reasons so I ended up graduating with a Business degree from the University of Maryland. But here I am back at it!
2. One best thing about being a fashion blogger.
Being Bold and Creative
3. Describe your style and who influenced you to pursue fashion.
That’s a simple yet complicated question. In a nutshell, I would define my style, “Bringing runway to streets”. I love things that stand out. I am less likely to wear something casual on even a casual day. I know – I know I am exaggerating a bit too much but oh well you get the point. Who influenced me – I would say Instagram did! Yes, I said Instagram. I started seeing few people I know posting blogs about fashion and lifestyle. I read them, and I could relate to them. Honestly, it was a tough call for me, because I don’t consider myself a good writer. I never have. However, I took it as a challenge and therefore started writing about things I like such as Fashion.
4. Is blogging your profession or hobby?
It started off as a hobby but lately, I have been treating it as a full-time job in addition to my other full-time job. It gets hectic but I still love it.
5. What are your favorite designer and brands you like to shop?
I am a girl who likes a good bargain. I barely shop at high-end stores like Gucci, Ysl, Tory Burch etc. I probably own a few items from such brands. However, I shop more often from Brands like Zara, Forever 21, Charming Charlie, Charlotte Russe, Shein, Fashion Nova, Boohoo and some unique local boutiques. I don’t believe in spending a fortune on outfits because I believe we live in an era of “15-minute-fame.” Trends come and go and along with it, our wardrobe and choices changes. Therefore, my personal motto is to “Look like a Million Bucks without Spending a Million bucks.”
6. Things you first notice on anyone’s outfit.
I look for a statement piece in any outfit. It could also be a powerful color combination. As you can clearly see in my Instagram Posts and various blogs, I try to incorporate my South Asian Cultural Pieces with my Western/American outfits, and this flow makes a statement. People Love it, I love it.
7. One recent trend that you love the most.
Nowadays, I have been seeing a lot of sweaters and jeans with pearls embellished on them. I love the way that looks. I still haven’t bought any but I do plan to purchase a couple items soon.
8. One fashion rule you never break.
I actually don’t follow any fashion rules. I love experiencing different styles. I can’t think of any that I follow or wouldn’t break at the moment.
9. Your current style icon.
My current and forever style icon has been a Bollywood Actor who also been in a few Hollywood movies as well– “Priyanka Chopra”. She is not only my style icon but she is an inspiration as a human being. I love everything about her.
10. Which city do you consider most fashionable?
I always thought NYC was the most fashionable, which is a fact. However, my recent visit to LA changed my mind. I loved the way people carry themselves there.
11.What is your favorite item in your closet right now?
I just recently purchased a faux fur coat in emerald green from forever 21 for about 30 bucks. It legit looks a million bucks. It was a steal!
12. One thing you splurge on.
I splurge on a good clutch or a handbag from a high-end brand. One could purchase a Chanel bag and it would still be in trend 20 years from now. I don’t mind splurging on such items.
13.What is your must-have accessory and perfume?
My current must-have accessory is a necklace my cousin gifted me last Christmas – it says “OM”. My current favorite perfume is Blooming Bouquet by Dior.
14. What advice do you want to give to other bloggers?
The first thing I would advise them is to be consistent. It is very important. Consistency is how you grow and how you interact with your audience. The second tip I would give is to find your niche, what it is that you are trying to do. Make sure to keep in mind that there are millions of Bloggers out there today trying to do the same thing as you are. So think out of the box.
15. If you could have three wishes, what would those be?
Ugh! That’s a difficult one.
First would be to make me the most intelligent girl in the world. No beauty beats a good brain power. I want to be able to answer any question that comes my way.
Second would be to win a big lottery. So not only I can take care of myself, but my family and get them all retired at a young age .ha-ha
Third would be making this earth into a crime-free planet. I am so tired of seeing people killing each other. Every other day I have been hearing about attacks here and there. I just want it to STOP!
