Elizabeth is a passionate piano player and has a sweet spot for nail art. She loves staple items and her Instagram is all about that.
1. Tell us about yourself and how did you develop an interest in fashion
I was always simple, never very fashionable growing up. Looking back at my pictures; I was awkward, LOL! But a few years ago, I discovered Pinterest and fashion blogs, and I started to become interested in dressing more stylishly. Growing up in a Christian home, I always dressed modestly. And now, being a Christian myself, modesty is still essential to me. I never expected to be doing this whole blogging thing for the long haul or to be working with brands, but it’s been an enormous blessing! I’m having a lot of fun with it. I’ve lived in small-town Georgia my whole life, and live a simple lifestyle, so I was surprised when people were so receptive to not just my style, but my personality. I’m still amazed that people follow along.
2. One best thing about being a fashion blogger.
Oh my goodness, how to pick just one? There have been a lot of fun things about it, and I’ve learned a lot, but the best thing is the people. I’ve connected with people I would never have otherwise. And when a girl messages me and says I’ve inspired her in some way, that makes all the effort worth it.
3.Describe your style and who influenced you to pursue fashion.
Well, other than modest and thrifty, which we’ve already established, I love wearing things that are staple items, and that you can mix and match to make new outfits out of the same pieces. And honestly, I can’t name one person who influences me to pursue fashion. I follow a lot of other fashion bloggers, and they all encourage me to try new things all the time.
4. One fashion rule you never break.
Is it bad that I don’t keep up with fashion rules? Haha! Something I hear people say a lot is that it’s always better to be over-dressed than under-dressed, and I totally agree. That’s definitely one rule I live by.
5. What are your favourite designer and brands you like to shop?
Anyone who follows my fashion blogging knows that I’m a huge thrifter, and even though I love fashion, I never spend much on my clothes. However, if you look through my closet, you will find a lot of Old Navy and Gap items.
6. Your current style icon.
I’ve honestly never been one to have a style icon. However, I love how classy Kate Middleton always is. Someone recently told me that one of my photos reminded them of her, and that was an awesome compliment!
7. One recent trend that you love the most.
I’m a horrible fashion blogger who doesn’t keep up with trends..ha! But I love all of the swing dresses. Many of them are modest, and they can be styled in so many ways. And they’re so comfortable, which is always a plus. I’m hoping they’re not just a trend and will stick around for a long time to come.
8. What is that one thing you never leave your house without?
Lip balm.. oh my goodness, I’m so lame! But it’s true. Even if I don’t take my purse somewhere, I’m probably going to have some in my pocket.
9. What is your must-have accessory and perfume?
I don’t have a favorite perfume, but a must-have accessory is pearls. Every girl should own some, whether it’s a necklace, bracelet, or earrings because they’ll never go out of style.
10. Which city do you consider most fashionable?
I feel like I’m automatically supposed to say New York right now..haha! But honestly, I don’t have any preference for that.
11. Things you first notice on anyone’s outfit.
I can’t say that there’s anything I notice right away. But, if I ever see a girl wearing something cute, my first thought is always, “I wonder where she got that?” And if her whole outfit is cute, I start thinking of what I have in my closet and if I have something to work with to pull together an outfit similar to that. I’m always thinking of outfit ideas.
12. One thing you splurge on.
Staple items. As thrifty as I am, I do tell people all the time that if it’s something you know you’ll wear over and over and it’s something classic that won’t go out of style anytime soon, it’s okay to spend a little more on it.
13. What is your favourite item in your closet right now?
Please don’t make me narrow it down. Probably my denim jacket. I’ve worn it so many times!
14.What advice do you want to give to other bloggers
Be authentic. I’ve definitely gotten caught up before in feeling like I’ve got to fit in with other bloggers and do this or that, but honestly, people don’t want to follow bloggers who are cookie cutter, and they want to see someone who’s real and genuine. I get messages all the time from people telling me how much they appreciate me being real, and that’s what I love to see from other bloggers myself.
15. What is that one thing you would do if you have all the money and resources to do it?
My Christian faith is undoubtedly the most crucial aspect of my life, so I would probably want to do something to help struggling churches and also to help with the planting of more Bible-believing churches.
