1. Tell us about yourself and how did you develop an interest in fashion?
Hey, there stylish babes! I am Michelle Zavala a Miami based blogger who loves to overdress, even to the grocery store! Being born and raised in Miami my whole life, I have seen my fair share of trends and unique styles. As a child, I would always watch my mother carefully style herself and her three daughters. She has always had an eye for styling; whether it was adding that cute bag, pop of color, shoes, or even a scarf. These days you will find me in her closet taking her pieces (sorry mom!)
However, It wasn’t until college that I truly started loving fashion for what it is. I will never forget, showing up to my college orientation in a pair of skinny jeans, off-white blazer, cute pointy flats and a matching tote bag. All the kids were dressed in sweats and I got funny stares, but I am so glad I didn’t hold back! I love styling!
2. One best thing about being a fashion blogger.
The best thing about being a fashion blogger is that I get to share my vision with others. It is always amazing to see the feedback and to know that I might have inspired someone.
3. Describe your style and who influenced you to pursue fashion.
I would say my style is labeled casual with a hint of chic. Although, I am getting to this stage in my life in which I just want to try every look at least once. Life is too short to stick to one style.
It wasn’t until freshman year of college that I truly wanted to pursue fashion as a hobby. I fell in love with blogger, Dulce Candy! I remember being in classes and reading her posts, going on my breaks in between classes and just admiring her beautiful outfits. I often caught myself daydreaming on the day that I would bite the bullet and start a blog, like her. I needed a creative outlet at that point and I took a job at the Banana Republic, which allowed me to help style mannequins and customers! So I would say it was a mixture of many things.
4. Is blogging your profession or hobby?
Blogging is definitely that hobby that I dream of making my profession, one day! I am a full-time student (class of 2017!), full-time legal assistant and part-time blogger. Whenever I am not being a student or working, you can find me creating content for my blog with my creative pals!
5. What are your favorite designer and brands you like to shop?
Favorite designer, you say? I love Gucci right now; they are just killing the game! I would say Gucci, YSL, and Chanel. Brands I love to shop are Zara, H&M and Forever 21.
6. Things you first notice on anyone’s outfit.
Something that I always notice in someone’s outfit is if the shoes match or any accessories. I also look at how they wear the outfit and the way they carry themselves with it on.
7. One recent trend that you love the most.
A recent trend that I love right now is velvet! Velvet shoes, purses, clothing, you name it! I think velvet just gives that luxe feels to an outfit.
8.One fashion rule you never break.
This is a tough one since I seem to break fashion rules all the time! I would have to say, wearing something off shoulder or strapless without an actual strapless bra. That is one rule that I will never break!
9. Your current style icon.
Just one?! Fine, I will have to say, Kourtney Kardashian. I have always followed her fashion sense and feel that she is the perfect match between chic and edgy!
10. Which city do you consider most fashionable?
NEW YORK! Something is always brewing in NYC!
11. What is your must-have accessory and perfume?
Must have accessory is my small gold Marc Jacobs watch. It could be dead of the battery and I still will not let it go. Favorite perfume is Gucci Rush.
12. One thing you splurge on.
I splurge a lot on clothes! I usually buy those key pieces that I can mix and match with much bolder pieces.
13. What is your favorite item in your closet right now?
Favorite item in my closet right now is my new red Zara backpack! It will be featured in my new blog post, stay tuned! It was only $20.00!!!
14. What advice do you want to give to other bloggers?
As a new blogger, I know how hard it can be to feel discouraged. I will say to keep going, accept constructive criticism, study and grow your craft. Don’t just stay complacent about one thing, keep learning, and keep up with the industry as it moves in a blink of an eye. Most importantly, be kind.
15. If you could have three wishes, what would those be?
If I could have three wishes I would:
– Make it so my parents never have to work a day in their lives anymore, I would love to have them travel the world and just relax!
– Make blogging my fulltime profession, for the rest of my life!
– Have my dog live for as long as I do and join me every step of the way.
