I brightened up my client’s hair colour by using Schwarzkopf Blonde Me bleach with Olaplex to protect it and toned it using Redken shades. I essentially cut off about 2′ and gave her a subtle blunt bob to make her hair appear thicker. I achieved the style by using a 1′ hot tools curling iron.

Recommended Products

The products I used were Nutrithermique, which is a heat activated leave-in conditioner by Kerastase and tousled it up by using a dry texturising spray by Oribe.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type

I think any person could pull the blunt haircut if done correctly. However, I think it works best on oval or round faces with a little bit of layering around the face. I think the style itself could be made on any hair, whether it’s straight, thick, curly, and so on, if we use the proper tools and products.

How To Style

For this hairstyle, I did normal highlights to natural hair with Wella’s Blondor and Wella’s developer 30 vol volume mixed in a ratio of 1 to 1.5 bleach to the developer. I left the product in the hair for about 1 hour. Then I rinsed out with plenty of water. I then applied a toner,/18 from colour touch by Wella, with Wella’s developer 20 volume mixed in a ratio of 1 to 1 and I left it for about 15 minutes. I then rinsed out with water and shampoo.

Recommended Products

I used Wella’s SP repair shampoo and Wella’s SP repair mask for restructuring the hair. Then I did hair dry, and the result is awesome. The highlights are perfect for any women.

After colouring, I achieved this look by using a 1 1/4” barrel curling iron. Once the hair is curled, take a vent brush and brush through the hair to relax the curls into soft waves.

Recommended Products

I always use Moroccan oil heat protectant, and then I also use a lightweight working hairspray. For fine hair, I would recommend a dry texture spray to prep the hair before curling.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type

This hairstyle is very versatile; I do not think there is any face shape it wouldn’t be able to complement.

Wash and blow dry using a big round brush for volume. I used my 1-inch Babyliss pro curling iron.

When hair is wet apply a sea salt spray for grip and texture. It’s also a heat protectant. I used a firm hold by white sands and infinity hairspray by white sands as well.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type

This style looks great on most of my clients and all hair types. People who won’t hold a curl, love a little bend! People who have curly hair, using the curling iron can calm their curls and seal the cuticle.

This look was created using a balayage in foils technique. I first cut her hair dry, and then I lightened about 60-70% of her hair and formulated a caramel gloss using Aveda’s Demi+ color gloss. Then I detailed her cut and added some softly textured layers and finished her with flat iron beach waves.

Recommended Products

I recommend maintaining the color with Aveda Color Conserve shampoo and conditioner and Color Conserve Daily Color Protect to keep her colour protected from the sun. To recreate the curls, use a flat iron and take every curl the opposite direction. Then spray with a light hold hairspray and separate the curls with a light finishing oil.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type

This colour brightens up any brunette without creating an aggressive maintenance schedule. She can go up to 6 months between balayage, with a gloss and trim in between. Balayage is perfect for anyone who wants beautiful, low maintenance colour.

How To Style

It is day one/wash day of my hair routine. I have curly hair, and this is what my texture naturally looks. During my wash, I use warm water to remove the product and to penetrate my hair with moisture. To start, I used a clarifying shampoo on my scalp to remove product buildup and to restore pH balance to my hair. Usually, I can skip conditioner, but depending on the climate I’m located in (I travel to different areas often) and depending on the season, I’ll add a hydrating deep conditioner to my routine. If I feel my hair needs the moisture, I finish up my wash with cold water to seal in my hair and to add more shine. There are many schools of thought on whether styling products should be added to curly hair while it’s soaking wet or damp, but because my hair is on the finer side, applying to damp hair has been helpful. I cup my super wet hair into my hands upwards to my scalp and gently squeeze out excess water before stepping out. Then, I divide my hair in half from right to left, then in half again from top to bottom. I apply a curl cream to each section by smoothing the product onto my strands from as close to the scalp as possible all the way down to the ends. It is known as the praying hand’s method. Once the product is applied, I cup that section of hair into my hands and scrunch up towards my roots to encourage the curl. During this step, I’ll know that I have enough product in my hair when I hear a squishing sound. I repeat these steps in the remaining sections of my hair. Once all my hair is covered, I flip my head over and, again, spread about a quarter size amount of gel onto my palms and would cup my hair in my hands towards my scalp to encourage curl formation and clumping. The last product I add in is a leave-in conditioner. It sounds strange to add this as the last product in the lineup, but I’ve been able to extend my good hair days up to 5 or 6 days by making this unconventional switch. Once product application is complete and while my head is still flipped over, I’ll take a 100% cotton t-shirt to do the same hair scrunching technique to help absorb excess liquids.

Recommended Products

During the clarifying step: a clarifying shampoo like Kinky Curly Come Clean or Deva Curl Low Poo. Come Clean is very concentrated so you only really need just a pea size drop of the product to use on your hair. It has a delightfully light citrus scent and perfectly removes product buildup without stripping natural oils. I’ve been using this shampoo ever since 2008 and I haven’t discovered another shampoo that works as powerfully to clarify and cleanse like this one. It’s my holy grail shampoo. During the deep conditioning step: a hydrating hair mask or deep conditioners like Pacifica Pineapple Hydrate Curl Nourishing Mask, Kinky Curly Stellar Strands Deep Conditioning Treatment or Shea Moisture Argan Oil and Almond Milk Smooth and Tame Treatment Masque. Lately, I am obsessed with Pacifica Pineapple Hydrate Curl Nourishing Mask. It’s super lightweight, and while it doesn’t have a lot of slip to it, that’s not entirely necessary for my fine hair as I don’t usually have an issue with knots or detangling my curls. I love that it contains quinoa and pea protein, so I use it as my monthly protein treatment. During the styling step: a curl cream such as Deva Curl Styling Cream, Miss Jessie’s Honey Curls or Jane Carter Solutions Hair Nourishing Cream. A gel such as Miss Jessie’s Jelly Soft Curls, Deva Curl B’Leave In or Ultra Defining Gel or Giovanni Cosmetics Eco Chic L.A. Natural Styling Gel. Lastly, a leave-in conditioner such as Kinky Curly Knot Today, Shea Moisture Superfruit Multivitamin Leave-In Detangler or Mielle Organics White Peony Leave-In Conditioner.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type

The curl clumps that I have framed my face are actually my side swept bangs that I specifically ask for when I do my curly cuts. This style would best complement those with a square, heart or diamond face shape. This look can best be achieved on those with 2c/3a curly hair types with either low, medium or thick density.

I achieved this hairstyle by blowdrying my hair quickly with a large round brush (doesn’t have to be perfect), and then I use a large barrel curling iron. I make sure the curls are done in opposite directions, so they don’t all clump together. The hair around my face is all curled away, and I usually curl those pieces a little bit looser.

Recommended Products

I always use a hair oil (Moroccan oil is my favourite) when my hair is wet before I blow dry it to add moisture. After I finish styling my hair, I usually use Living Proof dry shampoo to lift the roots, and a quick spray of Ouia hairspray for hold.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type

I think this hairstyle would work on any face shape. My hair is quite fine, but I have a lot of it. I imagine coarse hair wouldn’t curl the same way.

How To Style

For this style, I used an 11/4″ Curling iron and starting mid-strand closest to the root and left out about 1″ on the ends. Leaving about 1/2″ – 1″ of the ends out of the curling iron gives the hair something to relax into to achieve a beachy curl look.

Recommended Products

I would recommend the SachaJuan moulding spray to spray in before you curl the hair and the Colorproof powder fix volumising powder sprinkled in at the root to add a bit of texture.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type

Any face shape & hair type really could pull off this look! However, for finer hair, I would recommend lightly brushing up the ends of the hair in a backcombing motion with a wide tooth comb to give a fuller feel.
