This client has a blunt cut with no layers! I used a 1-inch Babyliss curling iron and took big sections and curled starting at the top and winding down leaving an inch of hair out at the ends to create a lived-in beach wave.

Before I blow dry, I like to use It’s a ten miracle styling potion and then after drying, I go ahead and curl. Then I use IGK Detox dry shampoo and Joico texture spray! I use a little hairspray at the very end. The colour was a full head of highlights and then toned with Wella colour.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type

I would recommend this length and blunt cut to someone with a rounder face and someone who wants to keep a lot of thickness!

I don’t do much regarding caring for my hair. I usually wash it once every second or third day, and I only ever brush it right before a wash. I’m sure other girls with curly hair know what I’m talking about when I say that, if I tried to brush my hair daily it turns into a frizzy afro mess. I do make a conscious effort to drink lots of water and eat plenty of fruits and veggies which my mum believes helps my hair grow and stay healthy!

Recommended Products

The only product that I use on my hair after a wash is a Moroccan Argan Oil spray. It just helps to keep that wavy, curly look. My shampoo and conditioner are always just the basics (whatever mum feels like buying at the shops each week).

Best Face Shape and Hair Type

My hair type is thick and curly. This style would work on any face shape. All you need is long hair.

I used a 1-inch curling wand by BedHead and curled the hair away from my face by strands. I pinned up all my hair on the top and started curling at the bottom and worked my way up. I let the hair to set for a bit, and after that, I use a smoothing cream to pull out the waves and make it look more tousled. I used a bit of hairspray to keep strays in check and beat the humidity.

Recommended Products

I used Kerastase Keratinique styling products because they keep my hair safe when using heat to style. In this case, I used BedHead hairspray. I almost always wash my hair with Pantene for curly hair.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type

I feel it’s great for any face shape. As for hair type, mine is wavy and thin, but I have a lot of hair. I’ve also tried this on my youngest daughter. Naturally wavy and even curly hair can hold this.

I have what you would call a typical “Scandinavian ” hair, which means it is usually very straight and flat. For this hairstyle, in particular, I use a blow dryer to add some volume as well as finishing it off with dry shampoo which is a real lifesaver when it comes to adding extra volume and shine.

Recommended Products

I always go for “Batiste” dry shampoo in “Blush” for blond hair. It helps me get that extra volume as well as it makes it smells good.

In the picture, I have a long bob- which I find flatters my face. I have an oval face-shape, with sharp lines and I like to keep my hair a bit longer than a regular bob. I like to keep my hair natural- so I never use any bleach or anything that can damage my hair. I am what you could call a true blond.

I styled with the help of Charleston, SC, hair stylist Mac McAbee (@mac.does.hair). Over the course of two sessions that were three months apart, Mac lightened and balyaged my hair while keeping the brassy tones at bay. It’s a slow and timely process, but Mac killed it. My hair still managed to stay healthy through both processes.

This blow wave was done using a European technique. The body was given to the roots of the hair and twisted on the brush all the way to the ends. It was completed by sectioning the hair and blow waving sections.

Recommended Products

I only used hairspray at the end, and you can run your hands through it after 5 minutes.

Oval and heart-shaped faces suit this style.

I achieved this colour by first applying the root formula on the first 2” of the hair, letting that process for 10 minutes. Then I applied the end formula on the rest of the hair letting that process for an additional 20 minutes. Then I rinsed, shampooed, conditioned and styled.

Recommended Products

The products I recommend to achieve this style is Aveda colour conserve shampoo and conditioner, smooth infusion style prep, Air control hairspray and dry remedy oil.

This colour/style is universal and would work on many!

It was a breezy style I wanted to create for my client, Layla after we finished her colour service. I achieved this loose wave by first prepping the freshly rinsed hair with Kevin Murphy Angel Wash and Rinse. Once towel dried, I applied a small dime sized drop of Kevin Murphy Young Again oil as a heat protectant. After blow-drying smooth with a round brush, I used a 1 1/4 inch barrel BaByliss PRO curling iron to create these finished waves. I sectioned larger 1 to 2-inch sections around the face aiming backwards (think Farrah Fawcett) and continued around the head in alternating directions. The trick with these waves is pulling the iron straight down when removing from the curl to ‘drag’ down the tip of the wave.

We do so that we don’t get too tendril-like curls. I usually cap off this style with Kevin Murphy Session Spray, especially with the finer haired clients.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type

You can do it on virtually any medium length to long hair that has a smooth base. It can compliment all face shapes, which is the beauty of it! It can enhance width in a longer or more narrow face and at the same time, create a beautiful frame for the eyes in a wider set face. I suppose I would name this style ‘breezy waves’ since it looks beautiful with lots of movement.

I achieved that particular hairstyle by doing a very basic roller set with hot curlers.

Recommended Products

A good hot curler, pins to set curls to dry, a heat serum, and holding spray.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type

I believe any face shape can wear this hairstyle; it would just have to be tweaked to the face shape.

This client had short hair; I would say a little above the Shoulders. So it was easy to create these loops. I did two pigtails on the back and just started wrapping hair around, pretty much went with the flow and bend of the hair.

Recommended Products

For this, I used a flexible working spray and a texturising spray by Amika. Then finished the look with a shine spray to give it a little polish.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type

Any face shape would work for this, in my opinion. I always do the front based on the client’s preference. Not everyone likes updos, but if you can accommodate to what your client is used to, they’ll feel more comfortable wearing their hair up.
